- Norwell Sociables Activities -
All activities are open to any member during the year. It isn't necessary to attend any certain number of events.
When you see something that interests you, please don't
hesitate to call and attend. If you have any questions regarding
the available activities, please call either the specific coordinator
for the event or the Activities Board Member. Any suggestions for new
activities, whether for a one-time event or an ongoing event, are always welcome.
Buddy System
New to the club? Would you like a member to pick you up for a meeting or an event. This can be arranged through the Membership Chair. It would be our pleasure to bring you to an event and introduce you to other members.
Book Club
Book Review is an informal group for people who enjoy reading and discussing books. They meet once every four to six weeks, to discuss a book selected by the group. Reading Selections and determined early each Fall. This is a great way to meet new friends who enjoy reading.
Couples Book Review
A new addition to Activities is Couples Book Review. It was well received last Spring and we hope to offer both a Fall and Spring Couples Review each year.
Creative Cooking
The creative cooking group meets 4-5 times a year at a member's home. We have different demonstrations of food themes given by either a member or an outside source. It's a great way to meet new members, catch up with friends, sample new food, pick up some great cooking tips, and acquire new recipes. There is a nominal fee for the cost of food. This is a very popular activity and fills up fast. Be sure to RSVP as soon as possible.
Ladies Night Out
Ladies' Night Out usually meets one night every month for an evening of fun. It could be a game of BUNKO, a demonstration, a movie or an evening out at a local restaurant. The attire is casual and the tabs are Dutch treat. Good food, good conversation and no dishes. How can you pass it up?? Ideas are always welcome.
Socials
There are several socials planned throughout the year. The year begins with the Fall Social which is open to both current and prospective members. Every winter there is The Snowflake Ball, a formal evening of dining and dancing, which takes place the first weekend in December-a truly lovely evening which sells out by early November so make your reservations as soon as tickets become available. The year closes with a Spring Social. This event usually happens in a members back yard. A great way to enjoy your new friends! There are other social gatherings scheduled throughout the year. Ideas are always welcome!
Tot Time
Our informal playgroup is a great way to encourage interaction between children and to stimulate adult minds with good conversation. The group meets approximately twice a month. The playgroups are held either in a member's home or a designated facility. Whether it's a trip to the playgroup, a local farm, a gym or some other child friendly place, there are always smiles
Wine Corner
Ever wonder what great wines you are missing? Our wine connoisseur will make suggestions and
give some background information on some great wines. An evening of wine tasting is usually planned
during the winter months. If you enjoy wines and have some advice to share, we would love to hear from you.
Women's GolfLadies, dust off those golf shoes and get ready to play some golf. Everyone is invited, it doesn't matter what your level of play. The format will vary, the play is relaxed. We'll meet once a week starting in late April and continue as long as we have a foursome. You can play nine holes or 18. For those of you who are interested in taking golf lessons, we have that option available.
